Emirates flight crash-lands at Dubai airport; all passengers safe

Dubai, Aug 3: An Emirates flight which was going from Thiruvananthapuram to Dubai crash-landed at the Dubai International Airport around 12.45 pm local time (11.15 am IST). All 275 people onboard the flight were safe.

Reports said the engine of the flight, EK521, caught fire while landing. The crew and the passengers were brought out through an emergency landing following the emergency landing. Footage posted on the social media showed smoke billowing from the aircraft.

Confirming the incident, the airline authorities said emergency services were managing the situation. Terminal three of the Dubai airport was closed following the incident.

The aircraft is a Boeing 777-300 that was delivered 13 years ago, in March 2003.
