Dhaka, July 2: Bengladesh's Inter Service Public Relations Directorate (IPSR) will brief the press about the terror attack and hostage crisis in a restaurant in the diplomatic quarter here around 3.30 pm local time on Saturday (July 2), the country's media reports said.
The IPSR issued a statement informing this on Saturday morning. The timing, however, is subject to change, it was told.
Eight to 10 gunmen carried out blasts and stormed the restaurant which had a number of foreigners inside around 9 pm local time on Friday (July 1). They held several as hostage and exchanged firing with the security personnel. Five people, including a few policemen, were killed in the encounter. Some other quarters said the numbers could be higher.
Thirteen hostages were rescued till the latest reports came in.
Meanwhile, the Opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party has sought adequate protection for its leader and former prime minister Khaleda Zia in the wake of the attack.
