China wants to remove sex videos from social media

Beijing, Aug 8: The Office Against Pornography and Illegal Publication in China has sought removal of all obscene content from online social media, and prosecute those responsible for uploading the content.

The office asked government authorities to take steps in this direction.

The move has come after a sex video taken with a mobile phone inside a fitting room of the clothing retailer Uniqlo in Beijing went viral on social media.

Four persons were taken into custody in connection with the sex video.

According to office the sex videos have threatened to derail social decency. Police have detained four people on suspicion of spreading the obscene content.

According to media reports, on Wednesday, sexual scenes were somehow aired on a giant display screen at a shopping mall in the eastern city of Lishui, and clips of the footage spread online, prompting police to investigate who was spreading the content.
