Brasília, Nov 17: In a bizarre incident, a two-month old baby was 'offered on sale' on the OLX classified website as he used to cry too much.

According to a report, the baby sale advertisement was reportedly posted by his parents, on sale for £267 as he 'did not let them sleep".

The 'baby on sale' advertisement was posted under Babies and Children's section on Tuesday, is now being investigated by the police. The police is now trying to trace the person who posted the advert.

The 'baby on sale' advertisement was posted under Babies and Children's section.

The baby ad reportedly featured his photo in blue clothes and in the caption was written. "Cries a lot and did not let me sleep and I have to work to survive." The ad remained live on the OLX classified website for 12 hours.

The couple did not disclose their names in the ad but gave details of address from the city of Aparecida de Goiânia in the central state of Goias.

However, the site withdrew the ad as it breached the terms and conditions by advertising ‘inappropriate content'.

A police official said, "If the person is the parent of the child then they can be charged under Brazil's Children and Adolescents Act for publishing the image improperly. The crime carries a penalty of up to two years in prison."

"However, if that person isn't linked to the child and has advertised the child without the parents' consent, it is an even more serious offence of defamation and they can be jailed for up to three years", he added.
