11 killed, many injured as blasts rip through cinema hall in Pak

Pak: 2 killed in cinema hall blasts
Peshawar, Feb 11: At least 11 persons were killed and 15 others injured when three bombs ripped through a cinema hall in this restive northwestern Pakistani city on Tuesday.

The explosions targeted Shama Cinema on Pajaggi Road, the oldest hall in Peshawar.

The complex is owned by the influential Bilour family, whose members are senior leaders of the secular-leaning Awami National Party. The hall also screens Indian movies.

Two persons were killed by the blasts. The injured were taken to the state-run Lady Reading Hospital, officials said.

This was the second such attack on a cinema hall in Peshawar in recent years.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Such assaults are usually blamed on the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, which has said that music and movies are "un-Islamic".
