Bangkok blast: Police arrest man over Erawan shrine explosion

Bangkok, Aug 29: The Bangkok police on Saturday arrested a man in connection with explosion at a Hindu shrine on August 17 here.

The arrest was made after police in Bangkok raided an apartment used by the man in northern Bangkok on Saturday and found possible bomb-making materials, a police spokesman was quoted as saying.

The suspect "looks like the one we are looking for", said the spokesman, Prawut Thavornsiri, reported BBC.

At least 21 people were killed and over 120 were injured, when a bomb exploded at crowded Erawan Shrine in Bangkok's central Chidlom district at 6.55 pm on Monday.

Many of those killed were tourists, most from China or Hong Kong.
