Amidst standoff, Pak's Abdul Basit meets with Chinese ambassador in India
When asked about this development, a Home Ministry official said that they are aware of the meeting.
As India tries to defuse tensions with China, a meeting of the Pakistan high commissioner Abdul Basit and Chinese ambassador to India, Luo Zhaohul took place.
While the meeting that was held on Wednesday has been confirmed there is no clarity on what transpired between the two. The meeting is significant since China is trying to drum up support in its favour from several countries.
Sushma Swaraj, Minister for External Affairs had said in Parliament that all countries stand with India. She also said that India is in favour of a peaceful solution to the problem at Doklam.
Some reports indicate that Basit discussed the Doklam standoff with the Chinese ambassador to India. He is also likely to meet with the Bhutan ambassador this week.

When asked about this development, a Home Ministry official said that they are aware of the meeting. However what transpired is not clear. If Pakistan has discussed the Doklam issue then we will object to it strongly as they are not a party to the dispute.
Meanwhile National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval will visit China next week to take part in the BRICS meet. He is expected to open up the diplomatic channels to find a solution to the five week old standoff at Doklam.
