Jakarta, Dec 31: Indonesia's search and rescue teams have obtained a sonar image believed to be the missing AirAsia flight at the bottom of the Java Sea, even as rescue teams pulled out bodies of six passengers belonging to the missing airline.
Officials however are yet to ascertain whether the body of the airline is intact or broken up. The image showed that the flight was upside down about 30 meters underwater.
This comes a day after the first signs of debris were spotted in the Java Sea. TV channels showed images of the bodies floating in the water, which sparked an outrage among the families of the victims. Some family members collapsed and others could not control their tears on seeing the images.
However bad weather had hampered the rescue operations. Officials are now eager to carry out the evacuation process and locate the black box of the airline.
