After much criticism, the White House has finally reacted to the killing of an Indian in Kansas which has been termed as a hate crime. The White House said that President Donald Trump has in his thoughts the family of Srinivasa Kuchibhotla.
The President has in his thoughts the family of the victim who was senselessly killed in Kansas. He is praying for the speedy recovery of those wounded in the attack, the White House also said.
Further the President also condemns this incident and any other racially or religiously motivated attacks in the strongest terms, the White House also said. The racial and religious attacks have no place in our country. We will continue to make that clear, the White House also said.
The much needed reaction from President Donald Trump comes 6 days after the incident. Srinivasa was shot dead at a bar in Kansas after being told, " get out of my country. His friend and another American who tried to save them was also wounded in the attack.
Meanwhile India has denied issuing a demarche to the United States over the killing of Srinivasa Kuchibholta at Kansas last week. India instead said that it appreciated the proactive response from the United States of America.
India says that the US actions had "obviated the need for a demarche by the government on this matter." The shooting is seen as a hate crime and evoked strong reactions particularly in the Telugu community. The spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Gopal Baglay said that the US had committed to investigate the incident and also prosecute the case.
