4.4 magnitude earthquake in Lahore, nearby areas affected
Lahore, July 18: Fear gripped in Lahore after it was struck by an earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale. Surrounding cities were also reported to have been affected.
According to the met office, the tremors were felt in Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Sheikhupura and other cities in Pakistan as well as northern parts of India, especially Amritsar.
It is being deciphered that the quake was measured 4.4 on the Richter scale with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. While people took shelter in safer places, some of them were found reciting qurans.
Being a Sunday, office buildings were closed but shopping malls, multi-storeyed buildings were evacuated. Emergency services and hospitals were on high alert, but nothing untoward happened.
