13 dead in Sudan road crash: police
Khartoum, Jul 8: Thirteen people have died in Sudan when two buses collided on a highway south of the capital Khartoum, police said. The crash that left another 28 people injured occurred on a highway connecting Khartoum and the state of Jazeera late yesterday.
The collision came as people continued to mark Eid al-Fitr festival after the ending of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Deadly road crashes are a regular occurrence in Sudan with road accidents often seeing a surge during Ramadan.
According to Sudanese media this year the country's traffic police deployed additional personnel to monitor traffic on highways between Khartoum and other states.
