Internet and Mobile Association of India hosts 1st ever 'apps job fest' in Indore

Indore, June 5: 250 apps developers and 12 Internet Companies participated in an Apps Job Fest organized by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) in Indore on Friday, June 5.

The Apps Job Fest is a pioneering concept focused on connecting Apps Developers of Tier 2 cities with Internet companies. IAMAI would soon take this concept to other tier 2 cities such as Pune, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh.

Apps Job Fest is a part of Mobile 10X initiative a programme that aims to train 5,00,000 apps developers in the next five years with a view to make India the global hub for apps development.

The programme also envisages incubating and curating some of the best apps in India with a view to supply 10% of top 1000 global apps from India.

Currently, there are no more than 50,000 professional apps developers and less than 1% Indian apps in top 1000 global apps, the Mobile 10x aims to increase this ten fold in the next 5 years.

IAMAI is of the view that one of the important impediments to creating ecology for apps economy is the lack of connect between apps developers and youth with business, entrepreneurial and creative ideas. The Mobile 10x programme aims to bridge this gap.

Indore, the only city with an IIT and an IIM and nearly 60 engineering colleges is rich all the basic resources to become an successful centre for apps development, hence IAMAI chose to kick start its Apps Job Fest from the city.
