After suspending BRD Medical College Principal in the wake of deaths of infants in the hospital in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said the problem is not with the government.
Speaking at a function, Adityanath said, ''Government is not the problem. The government has no right to be in power if it was a problem.''
He said that the problem of Encephalitis- inflammation of the brain- has been reported in Uttar Pradesh since 1978.
On the death of infants, he said, ''Unhygienic conditions and open defecation are the main reason for the untimely demise of infants in eastern UP."
'Somewhere there is also a lack of awareness among people about cleanliness. There is a problem we are facing, there is also a solution,'' he added.
Meanwhile, Union Health Minister JP Nadda assured Yogi Adityanath of assistance/expertise from the Centre in handling the tragedy.
The UP government has told Union Health Minister that all the aspects of deaths at BRD Medical college are being examined.
