Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Yogpeeth largest buyer of red sandalwood
Hyderabad, April 17: Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust has emerged as the largest domestic buyer of red sandalwood in the country.
As per a report published in TOI, the Andhra Pradesh government had conducted an auction when it was revealed that Haridwar-based Patanjali Yogpeeth bought 706 tonnes of red sanders for Rs 207 crore. [Ramdev in trouble; controversy over Patanjali food products]
Patanjali Yogpeeth uses the prized wood in manufacturing ayurvedic medicines and incense sticks. [Case lodged against Ramdev's Patanjali products]
There are three qualities of red sandalwood: the price of A Grade is Rs 1.75 crore per tonne, B Grade fetches Rs 1.5 crore and the price of Grade C is Rs 29 lakh, purchased by Patanjali.
It is said that China and east Asian countries uses red sanders as herbal aphrodisiac.
