Bhopal, Nov 3: Amid growing concerns over rising intolerance in the country, senior Congress leader Mahendra Singh will hold a programme "Yaadein Arjun Singh", an Indo-Pak International Mushaiyra, in memory of former Union Minister Arjun Singh on his birth anniversary on November 5.
"An Indo-Pak International Mushaiyra: 'Yaadein Arjun Singh' will be organised to remember Singh, who was known as a compassionate and an advocate of pluralism in the society, on the occasion of his birth anniversary," Chouhan told reporters here.
Noted poet from Karachi, Pakistan, Farhat Shehzad and country's noted poets like Munnawar Rana, Rahat Indori, Manzar Bhopali, Vijay Tiwari and Anjum Rehbar among others will take part in the Mushaiyra, he said.
Efforts are on to call another Pakistani poet Abbas Tabish and he shall attend the programme if his visa and other related formalities are completed on time. Chouhan also informed that a Prayer Meeting will be held in the morning at the residence of Singh's son and former Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Ajay Singh on the day.
Mahamandleshwar Swami Awdheshanand Giri will also be present on the occasion and deliver a discourse. Besides union minister, Singh had also served as Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Punjab Governor and Congress vice president.
