Won't tolerate such things: CM Raje’s strong words against murder by gau rakshaks
Finally, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje condemned the killing of Pehlu Khan by cow vigilantes in Alwar earlier this month.
Jaipur, April 26: After almost a month, finally, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje broke her silence on the barbaric killing of 55-year-old dairy farmer Pehlu Khan in Alwar by a group of gau rakshaks (cow vigilantes).
The Rajasthan government was criticised for keeping mum on the issue as the six main accused named by Khan before his death are still at large.
"Rajasthan Police is investigating the case. A few people have been arrested. Such things won't be tolerated in Rajasthan. The wrong-doers won't be spared," Raje told reporters on Tuesday.
On April 1, Khan and four others, including his two sons, were mercilessly beaten by a group of cow vigilantes on suspicion of being cow smugglers.
The 55-year-old dairy farmer from Nuh in Harayan succumbed to his injuries on April 3. The entire episode, where a group of cow vigilantes (gau rakshaks) were seen beating Khan, was shot on mobile phones by onlookers. The videos of the attack went viral on social media.
Recently, his 85-year-old mother Ankuri Beegam and other family members staged a protest in the national capital demanding justice for Khan.
At the protest venue in Jantar Mantar, an old and visibly weak Beegam was seen sitting in front of a hoarding with the message, "Mother of Pehlu Khan, Ankuri Beegam, demands justice."
"It has been several weeks and authorities are yet to arrest the six main accused. I want justice for my son, who was an innocent man and died a brutal death," Ankuri told reporters.
