New Delhi, Nov 30 BSF DG KK Sharma briefed media about BSF's concerted effort to modernise our border fences. He said with regards to Samba incident that infiltration happened through a small tunnel in border area and that as of now no BSF has no technology to detect a tunnel.
He further added that, "We will take up the Samba infiltration bid and tunnel issue with our Pakistani counterparts."
DG further informed media that since surgical strikes, more than 15 Pakistani Rangers have been killed and more than 10 militants have been neutralised. He also informed that many Pakistani border outposts have been destroyed.
BSF DG also informed that after surgical strikes, BSF started operation called 'Operation Rustom' as BSF anticipated problems won't be confined to LoC and that it will affect IB too.
On seizure of fake currency:
BSF DG said that, "There is a drastic drop in seizures of fake currency from Malda border, don't know about Nepal border as SSB looks after that."
On Bangladesh border:
DG said for security on Bangladesh border that, "A part of Bangladesh border is unfenced including water bodies so humanly not possible for me to put manpower in such areas."
On Bangladesh border issue DG further added that, "We are making efforts to fill the unfenced gaps using technology."
On effect of demonetisation of BSF Jawans:
When asked about the effect of demonetisation on the Jawans, DG said, "Our Jawans are attached with cashless schemes and their families also."
On wellness programmes for BSF Jawans:
BSF DG also informed media that for the wellness of the Jawans BSF has introduced 45 minutes Yoga session for the Jawans which is supervised by Baba Ramdev. DG said that thanks to the yoga routine average weight of Jawans is now coming down.
