Will oppose religion based reservation: Amit Shah
Kannauj (UP), Apr 22: BJP leader Amit Shah today said his party would oppose reservation on the basis of religion and attacked Samajwadi Party saying it could not handle Uttar Pradesh but was dreaming of ruling the country.

"Our party is against reservation on the basis of religion and will oppose it. If BJP is voted to power, welfare of people belonging to all religions will be kept in mind," Shah said while addressing an election meeting here. "In the election season, political parties are making promises. They are talking of giving reservation on the basis of religion. But we will not let it happen," he added.

"If BJP wins, welfare of people belonging to all religions will be kept in mind"

He said that in BJP-ruled states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Goa, work had been done for everyone, irrespective of their religion. He alleged that in UPA regime, scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore were committed and SP and BSP were also responsible for them as they had supported it.

Hitting out at Samajwadi Party, Shah said "pariwarwad" (dynastic politics) has replaced "samajwad" (socialism) in Samajwadi Party. "Their (SP) leaders could not handle Uttar Pradesh well and are dreaming of ruling the country," he added. Mulayam Singh Yadav led Samajwadi Party has promised to provide reservation to Muslims in government jobs including in police force in its Lok Sabha election manifesto.
