Mumbai, March 18: Last year was pretty bad for Kashmir. Amid violence, protests and unrest, tourists stopped visiting the Valley which almost led to the collapse of the tourism industry.
On Friday, Mufti launched the trailer of the film, Sargoshiyan, by actor-turned-director Imran Khan in Mumbai. During the function, Mufti asked the audience to visit her state. Mufti said, "Visit our Kashmir. Our state is safe for tourists." She added that the current political situation in the state is under control and it is conducive for the tourists to enjoy the beauty of the Valley.
Jammu and Kashmir is all set to host a tulip festival at Asia's largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar during the spring. The CM wants people from across the country to visit the state during the popular festival.
In fact, Mufti seems to be a huge fan of the Bollywood superstar. When reporters asked her if she would like to appoint any Bollywood actor to promote her state, the CM quickly replied, "Given a chance, I would like to choose Salman Khan to promote tourism there."
Khan starred in the blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan released in 2015. The film was extensively shot in the Valley. During the shooting of the film, Khan had said that he was in love with Kashmir.
"Be it for films, family vacations or honeymoon, people should visit this place. It is the most beautiful place on planet earth. The people are very gentle, well-mannered, beautiful and simple. I enjoyed my stay here and Insha Allah (God willing) will again visit very soon. I request all that the way I came here, they should visit too. If you have not seen Kashmir, then you have not seen anything," the actor had said.
We have to see if the CM formally appoints the superstar as the state's brand ambassador. Actors such as Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are brand ambassadors of West Bengal and Gujarat respectively.
