When 'baharwala' Modi trounced 'UP ke ladke'
The Congress and the Samajwadi Party relied heavily on campaigns, but clearly, it did not work for them
For the SP-Congress in Uttar Pradesh, the result was not a kind one. The BJP swept this combine and the SP-Congress ended up with 62 seats. The two parties relied heavily on some campaign slogans, which clearly did not work for them.

They called Prime Minister Narendra Modi an outsider or baharwala while terming Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi as UP's boys or UP ke ladke.
Here are some of the campaigns that were used by both parties during the election campaign.
UP ko yeh saath pasand hai: This song, written by playback singer Amit Mishra, listed out the friendship between the SP and Congress apart from the achievements of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The song which made a buzz did not translate into votes.
The SP-Congress combine also relied on songs and one-liners during its campaign. At the start of the campaign, it relied on the slogan UP ko yeh saath pasand hai. The other campaign slogan was apne ladke vs bahari Modi. This song which ran into 1.16 minutes spoke about the support of the youth and was played at all rallies.
