What is the jan-militia?

They are supporters and sympathisers for the Naxals. Apart from being the eyes and ears of the Naxals, they also propagate the ideology and brainwash people. In addition to this they also ensure that the consignment of arms or cash is stored for the Naxals and provided when the need be.

The members of the jan-militia propagate in various ways. They have a cultural unit that performs in villages. Through song and dance they tell the people to hate the Constitution of India and also ensure that the people develop a hatred towards the country.

In addition to this they go around finding out if any of the villagers have turned police informers. Once such information comes by, they inform the commanders about the same. They also interact with villagers and gather information about the movement of the police and other forces in the area.
