Watch: Shiv Sena leader thrashes woman traffic constable in public, party distances itself
Thane, Feb 26: A Shiv Sena leader was caught on camera for assaulting a woman traffic constable in Thane after she stopped him for using his mobile phone while driving.
The entire incident was caught on CCTV camera in which Sena leader, Shashikant Kalgude, could be seen slapping the woman cop.
The 29-year-old constable was on duty under the Eastern Express Highway flyover near Nitin Junction in Thane. She, reportedly, gestured Kalgude to stop his vehicle but he tried to dodge her, until she came in front of the leader's SUV to stop him.
It was when the constable asked him to produce his driving licence and the vehicle's documents, Kalgude started abusing her. He then slapped and punched her so hard that her nose started bleeding, repored CNN-IBN.
Kalgude has been arrested and booked under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena has distanced itself from the leader who took law in his hands.
This is to reiterate the shameful incident of slapping a lady constable, has no political backing, will not be shielded by anyone at all

Shiv Sena's youth wing Yuva Sena president and grandson of the party's founder Bal Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray tweeted saying, "Absolutely nothing to do with the party at all, (it) doesn't endorse (the assault). Office bearer or not, doesn't endorse the shameful act."
The Party supports strong and strict lawful action. He isn't an office bearer but regardless, such acts shld be firmly dealt with by law
