While people in the IT city are busy rushing towards their work places, these young people, who are known as Medical Clowns, manage some time to spend with patients at many hospitals in the city.
Medical Clowns, a great initiative, had begun their work one and half years ago. Harish Bhuvan and Nivendran are the persons who started going to hospitals initially. Later many other joined them.
The group visits St John's every Saturday at 3 pm and Narayana Hrudayalaya at Hosur Road on every Tuesday at 4 pm. Harish Bhuvan has started up one Centre in Ahmedabad, Gujarat as well.
Medical clowns' visits to hospitals help in lifting patients moods with the positive power of hope and humour. There is also an associated positive benefit to the staff and families of patients.
The group use techniques such as magic, music, storytelling and other clowning skills to empower patients with doses of fun that help them deal with the range of emotions they may experience while in hospital -- fear, anxiety, loneliness, boredom.
The special performances by the group helps people to cope with difficult situations and helps to create bonds which aids the healing process.
