TN shocker: Here's why dalit man hacked to death in full public view
Chennai, Mar 14: In a suspected case of honour killing, a 21-year old dalit man was hacked to death by three assailants in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu . Reportedly, the incident took place on Sunday afternoon when attackers who were on motorbike murdered victim allegedly for marrying with upper caste girl.
According to reports, deceased who was identified as V Sankar had married with 19 year old Gausalya eight months ago. It is being said that girl's parents were not happy with the marriage as Sankar belonged to lower caste.
Sankar's cousin Ganeshan was quoted as saying, "We are pallars, also known as devendra kula vellalars. The girl is from a higher caste. The girl's family was unhappy initially with the wedding, and they even came and threatened her 15 days ago, but the girl did not go back."
The gruesome murder has been captured in the camera. In the video footage, attackers were seen dragging man from pavement and beating him mercilessly. Attackers also assaulted Gausalya who had come to market with her husband for shopping. Later, injured Gausalya was admitted to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, Tamil nadu police has registered FIR in the case and also formed special teams to nab the culprits.
