Victim's affidavit reveals sexual assault, pressure mounts on Ganguly
Ganguly is currently the chief of West Bengal Human Rights Commission. In spite of demands from across the nations for his resignation, ganguly has been clinging on to the post.
Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaising has wrote to the prime minister demanding strict action against Ganguly. ASg has also demanded that Ganguly be removed from his post in WBHRC."I have written to the prime minister for initiating action to remove Justice A.K. Ganguly as the chairman of WBHRC. It is for the PM and the Cabinet to decide and ask the President to make a reference to the Supreme Court for his removal," she said.
Also, Indira Jaising has requested PM to take due actions in order to maintain the institutional integrity of human rights bodies."It is my duty to defend Constitutional values, one of the most fundamental of them being the right to non-discrimination based on sex", she said.
The Trinamool Congress in West Bengal has demanded Ganguly's resignation from the post in WBHRC. However, congress and left front in the state have not responded yet.
