Praveen Togadia

Togadia was to hold a programme at the National College Grouds in Basavanagudi. The programme organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad was to witness a huge gathering.

Why is Togadia barred:

The police commissioner explains in his order that on examination it has been found that such an event would have grave consequences.

"Togadia is habitually inclined to making inflammatory speeches and this could have a grave impact."

"I am convinced there is every likelihood of disturbance of public tranquility and communal harmony if the city if the speech by Togadia is not prevented," the Commissioner also notes.

While justifying the non-issuance of a prior notice barring him from speaking, the commissioner also adds that he is not a permanent resident of Bengaluru or Karnataka state. Hence the circumstances do not favour issuing of a notice, the commissioner also adds.
