Vande Mataram compulsory in all Tamil Nadu schools, colleges: Madras HC

The Madras High Court has said that singing Vande Mataram in all schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu is compulsory. The court however made it clear that Vande Mataram would need to be played and sung in all schools and colleges at least once a week.
The court said that Vande Mataram could be played and sung preferably on a Monday or Friday. The court further said that Vande Mataram should also be played and sung in government institutions. In government offices the National Song should be played at least once a month. Further the court said that the rule would be applicable to to private companies, factories and industries.

The court said that the Director of Public Information will upload the translated version of Vande Mataram in Tamil and English on government websites and also the social media.
