An Air India official was quoted as saying, "Of the four airhostesses, two said they had exhausted their flying duty hours. The third was staying at a central Delhi five star hotel and called in sick from there."
"We sent a doctor to the hotel who checked her and found her alright. She first claimed she had not called in sick but still refused to fly to Australia while saying she could go to Dubai instead. We have suspended her," added the official.
Media reports also informed that the fourth airhostess reached the airport late but since the flight was anyway delayed, she flew to Australia.
Sources, meanwhile, informed that Air India has begun checking the claims of the other two airhostess who claimed their annual flying limit of 1,000 hours was exhausted.
"If their claim is untrue, we will act against them. And if their claim is correct, action will be taken against rostering department who put such crew on long haul flights," said the official.
