Uttarakhand's Tirath Singh Rawat made BJP national secretary
Observers say Rawat's elevation is with an eye on the Uttarakhand assembly election
New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah on Saturday appointed Tirath Singh Rawat as party's national secretary. Rawat, a former MLA and state president of Uttarakhand, was appointed to the post by Shah, a party statement said.
The 52-year-old Rawat was the BJP's Uttarakhand party chief from February 9, 2013 to December 31, 2015. Currently he is a member of the Uttarakhand legislative assembly. A student leader, former minister and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak, Rawat represents Chaubttakhal for Uttarakhand assembly.
