Uttar Pradesh floods: CM Yogi conducts aerial survey of flood-hit areas

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth on Wednesday undertook an aerial survey of various flood affected districts in the state.

The CM warned that stern action would be taken against all those who were lax in flood relief works. "The government will not pardon laxity at any level or by anyone in flood relief works and all those found responsible for this negligence will face stern punishment," Adityanth said while addressing reporters.

He also ordered respective DMs to inspect flood affected areas and quicken rescue and relief operations ensuring security in relief camps.

The chief minister undertook aerial survey of the flood-hit areas of Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjehanpur and Sitapur.

At least 23 deaths have been reported due to floods that have brought life to a standstill in 890 villages spread across 19 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and the Terai region.

A flood alert has been issued to 40 districts where the district magistrates have been asked to be on a 24-hour vigil.

Among the worst-affected districts are Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjehanpur, Sitapur, Shrawasti, Bahraich, Gonda, Balrampur, Barabanki, Faizabad, Sidharthnagar, Basti, Deoria, Kushinagar and Gorakhpur.
