New York, June 19: The US-India Business Council (USIBC) on Friday honoured Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at a reception here and expressed hope about the bilateral relation between the two countries.

USIBC chairman Ajay Banga said the Narendra Modi government was helping the Indian economy to turn around with lower inflation, a reduced deficit, high foreign direct investment and other measures and the association sought to help India do things to achieve a better growth.

"Going forward, USIBC members want to help India do the things it needs to do to meet its growth targets: create jobs, boost manufacturing, build up infrastructure, and generate tourism," an Ani report quoted Banga as saying.

USIBC president Mukesh Aghi said the US-India bilateral trade relations have much potential to increase the current trade between the two countries that stand a little over USD 100 billion, the ANI report said.
