Speaking to the people here Modi said: "Whether Leh or Northeast, my path to improving the life of people is through progress. It is our responsibility to connect people of Kargil with the rest of India."
Laying emphasis on the agricultural sector in the region Modi said that we must strengthen our farmers and cultivators in Kashmir with better technology facilities. "About 20 per cent people of Jammu and Kashmir are displaced, we will take all possible steps for their rehabilitation."
Speaking of corruption, Modi said: "In my government, I won't let officials ask for bribes or let people give bribes."

Addressing a gathering here, PM Modi said 'It is my privilege that I am able to come here and meet all of you in Kargil.' Modi said: "The day we recaptured Tiger hill is still vivid in my memory. The patriotism of the people of Kargil inspires the people of India. I bow to this land and to the people."
Speaking to the people here he said that power reaching Kargil is for industrial progress. Urging the youth in the region, Modi said: "I am sure the youth here can work hard, earn money and feed their families."
Speaking of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Modi said that it was Atal Bihari Vajpayee wanted progress in the region. "My government is committed to improving the connectivity to Kashmir. Power is not only for televisions and mobile phones, it's to power industries in Kashmir."

After addressing a gathering in Leh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Kargil.
10.55 am: Modi says need to modernise the production of Pashmina Shawls
Focussing on the production of Pashmina shawls, Modi said that we will modernise the design and production of Pashmina shawls. Modi spelt out 3P's strategy for Leh- Prakash, Paryavaran and Paryatan.
Modi said that the production of saffaron will be a big boost to the region. "We need to bring a saffron revolution and that is giving impetus to Kesar," he said. Modi said that he was very attached to this place and the people over here.
Calling to put an end to the corruption, Modi said that there was no dearth of wealth in the country. "We need to fight against the corruption and need to distribute the wealth amongst the poor.
Modi said: "Peanut vendor, chaiwallah, horse wallah, the poorest will earn from tourism. Centre and CM Omar ji had an ongoing feud over interest on foodgrains sent to FCI. I announce waiver of the 60 crores."

Praising the people of Ladakh he said: "The patriotism of the people here(Leh-Ladakh) is an example for the rest of the country.I salute you."
