4th phase Assembly poll updates: 61% voter turnout in Jharkhand, 49% polling recorded in J&K
Bengaluru, Dec 14: Women voters on Sunday outnumbered men in the fourth phase of the assembly elections in Jharkhand. Around 61 percent balloting was reported from across the 15 constituencies that went to the polls, officials said.
In Jammu and Kashmir, overall polling percentage was recorded as 49%.
Results for the assembly elections will be announced on Dec 23.

6.00 pm: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said this election offers a historic opportunity for the people of J&K to undo the "injustice" of over the years by successive governments in the state.
5.15 pm: "In Jharkhand, the highest polling was reported from Chankayari with 71.28 percent, followed by 70.2 percent in Madhupur. Polling was by and large peaceful. The turnout in Maoist-affected areas was more than 60 percent," a poll official said.
5.00 pm: Voting ends peacefully in the fourth phase of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Over 50 percent turnout recorded in 18 constituencies when balloting ended at 4 pm.
4.45 pm: Overall poll percentage in Jharkhand upto 3 pm is 60%.
4.30 pm: BJP candidate from Shopian Javed Ahmad Qadri caught on camera assaulting a man in a polling booth.
4.15 pm: Workers of rival political parties clash at nearly a dozen places during polling in Srinagar and Anantnag districts of Kashmir Valley.

8.50 am: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will hold two public meetings in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday ahead of the fifth and last phase of polls in the state, a party statement said.
