Lucknow, March 22: In a shocking incident, three Dalit girls have reportedly been gangraped and murdered in Katiyari village under Deoria district in Uttar Pradesh.
The incident came to light on Saturday.
According to India Today report, the bodies the three girls bore several injury-mark.
The report said among the three girls, one is 18-year-old BA first year student, another is 13-year-old Class 5 student and third is 10-year-old in Class 4 student. It is reported that though their families claimed they have been gangraped, police have not confirmed it.
The families of the girls said all three to them had gone to fields on Friday to collect grass for livestock but did not return home.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Deoria (Rural) Manoj Kumar has said that the police is investigation into the matter and will only be able to reach any conclusion only after going through the post-mortem report.
"It is a serious matter that three girls were brutalised and killed. They belong to extremely poor families. We have recommended financial assistance to the victims' families from the discretionary fund of the chief minister," Deoria DM Sharad Kumar has been quoted as saying in the report.
