UP's law reversal: Senior cop 'kisses' murder accused, victim's family shed tears of agony

Kanpur, Aug 2: India may not have been shamed this much earlier, especially when the protectors of law 'kiss' their duties goodbye, that too openly.

A senior police official in Kanpur, who was responsible for investigating the murder of a woman and the daughter-in-law of a wealthy businessman in UP, was taken off duty when he kissed the murderer husband on the forehead. Moreover, he called him a "good boy".

The main accused and the husband of the woman, Piyush Sharma Dasani, was taken in remand for questioning. Circle Officer (CO) R K Naik asked Dasani whether he would check his ways, to which the accused answered in the affirmative.

Surprisingly, the officer hugged and kissed him calling him a "good boy".

While Dasani was sent back to jail, the CO was removed from the probe and transferred to the SP's office.

Jyoti was found murdered with multiple stab injuries in Dasani's car on July 28 in Panki area of the district. Dasani was later arrested after he confessed to have murdered his wife with the help of their driver as he was having an affair with another woman.

The driver, the two accomplices, Dasani and the woman were arrested too.

An earlier false account by Dasani revealed that he and his wife were returning from a restaurant when two motorcycle borne men overtook them. A scuffle broke out between him and the men, following which he was beaten. Meanwhile, his wife was abducted by these men, along with the car.

Police, however, smelled foul from the beginning as their were many discrepencies in his account and no injury marks on him of being beaten up.
