Exactly a month ago, on March 19, the Bharatiya Janata Party formed its government in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The BJP came to power in the state by sweeping the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The saffron party won 325 seats in alliance with smaller parties in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

There were initial murmurs in the political circle for choosing Adityanath, the firebrand Hindutva leader, to lead the state, however, with a large number of 'positive' projects initiated by Adityanath government, the voters of the state are happy.

Be it anti-Romeo squad or loan waiver for farmers, the new government in the state has started its journey in the right direction, say political pundits.

Here is a look at the works of Yogi Adityanath government since it came to power in Uttar Pradesh on March 19:

End eve-teasing, provide women safety

It has been almost a month--March 21 to be precise--when the newly formed Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh announced the formation of anti-Romeo squads in various parts of the state. The anti-Romeo drive was a poll promise of the ruling BJP to rein in stalkers, eve-teasers and molesters in public places.

Crackdown on illegal slaughterhouses

A massive drive against illegal slaughterhouses has been started by the Uttar Pradesh government which resulted in the arrest of many people. While several meat traders and sellers have protested against the drive citing it's an attack on their livelihood, the chief minister has assured that the legal ones are free to do business.

Loan waiver for farmers

Adityanath gave a big relief to small and marginal farmers in the state by waiving off farmer loans worth Rs. 36,359 crore. Even Rahul Gandhi, vice president of Congress, welcomed the decision of the state government.

Power for all

The new government in the state has promised to provide continuous supply of electricity in rural areas. The chief minister said that villages will get 18-hour power supply a day from now onwards.

 

Speak against triple talaq

Recently, Adityanath spoke against triple talaq and said the silence surrounding the social malice should end soon to help Muslim women live with dignity.

Learn about leaders, instead of holidays

In order to make children know more about our revered political figures and freedom fighters, the new Uttar Pradesh government decided to end the culture of announcing holidays during the birth and death anniversaries of these famous personalities. Instead, Adityanath asked schools to teach children about the lives and struggles of these leaders.
