Samajwadi Party this phase was extremely crucial as in 2012 it had put up a blockbuster performance.
Sunday witnessed a 61.16 per cent polling percentage in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2017. At the end of polling, all parties expressed confidence of forming the next government in Uttar Pradesh. For the Samajwadi Party this phase was extremely crucial as in 2012 it had put up a blockbuster performance.
In 2012, the SP had won 55 of the 69 seats. Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said after casting his vote that the SP government has done adequate work in the state and there is no reason why the voters will not chose the party again.
BSP supremo Mayawati on the other hand expressed confidence and said that her party would win at least 300 seats. She said that there is no doubt that the next government will be formed by her.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh who cast his vote too expressed confidence that the BJP will form the next government in the state. For the BJP the election is crucial as it has not been in power in the state for over a decade now. Moreover this is the first big test for Prime MInister Narendra Modi following the decision on demonetisation made on November 8.
