UP: Ditched over the 'meatless menu', bride finds another groom
Meatless menu or in precise beefless menu in the wedding functions in Uttar Pradesh is believed to be raking up the issue.
Muzaffarnagar: The recent incidents in Uttar Pradesh revolving around beef demand and triple talaq had one prospective, but an incident that turned filmy where bride finding another groom after a marriage called off due to meatless menu in the wedding is something new.
This dramatic incident took place in Kulhedi village of Muzaffarnagar, when a man identified as Rizwan called off the marriage as meat was not served in the marriage.
The groom's family cancelled the wedding after they found out that only vegetarian foods was served in the function. They created ruckus on the menu issue after which the police and the panchayats convened to resolve the dispute.
The bride identified as Nagma refused to marry Rizwan after the groom's family decided to go ahead with the marriage.
Nagma was engaged to Rizwan two months ago and were supposed to get married on Wednesday.
Soon after the drama got over, a man came forward to marry Nagma without asking for dowry and accepting vegeterian foods for the function.
After the marriage, Nagma's father alleged that many arrangements were made, and had given dowry to previous groom's family. He added that the family was left with no option but to get married off Nagma to another man.
Recently, a woman's family was threatened to give divorce to the newly wed woman for not serving beef during the wedding ceremony. The incident took place in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. Woman identified as Afsana was married on April 22. The father of the bride, Salari was threatened by the groom's family that they will give divorce to the newly married Afsana for not serving beef in the wedding function, apart from denying taking the dowry.
