UP CM Yogi Adityanath to introduce two private bills in Lok Sabha today

Adityanath's High Court bill and the ban on forced religious conversions are yet to be introduced in the House.

New Delhi, April 7: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is all set to introduce two private bills in the Lok Sabha on Friday-- one on permanent Allahabad High Court bench at Gorakhpur and other one on ban on forced religious conversions.

Earlier, Yogi Adityanath had said religious conversion is an "anti-national act" and it must be stopped.

"An aggressive campaign is required for ghar wapsi of those Hindus, who had converted to other religions in the past," he was quoted by a daily.

What are the two private bills:

The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2015 (Insertion of new article 25A): This seeks to insert a new article in the Indian Constitution that will ban forcible religious conversions.

The High Court at Allahabad (Establishment of a Permanent Bench at Gorakhpur) Bill, 2015: This seeks a permanent bench of the Allahabad High Court in his constituency.

None of these bills has been passed yet. Adityanath's High Court bill and the ban on forced religious conversions are yet to be introduced in the House.

44-year-old Yogi Adityanath has been a Member of Parliament (MP) from Gorakhpur in the 15th and 16th Lok Sabhas, since last eight years.

In both the 15th and 16th Lok Sabha, Adityanath raised more questions than the average MP, with 347 queries (against the average of 300) upto February 2014 and 284 upto March 2017 (against the average of 180).

A science graduate, Adityanath had the most queries (57) for the ministry of health during the 16th Lok Sabha.

Adityanath has represented Gorakhpur five times and made his debut at the age of 26 in 1998 and he has been the mahant of Gorakhnath temple since 1994.
