Lucknow, March 25: In two different horrific incidents, bodies of two unidentified women were found butchered into pieces in Gorakhpur and Rae Bareli districts of Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
Body of a woman, cut into 16 pieces and packed in a leather bag, was found in a garbage dumping site in Rae Bareli.
The body has not been identified yet. It is of a woman of around 30 years and she appears to have been killed 3-4 days back, police told reporters.
Sweepers who collect garbage called police after they opened the bag and found the body in the morning.
Police said the bag must have been picked up by garbage collecting vehicles from the city and drivers of such vehicles were being questioned.
Another mutilated body was found in a bag inside a coach of Kanpur-Gorakhpur Chauri-Chaura Express in Gorakhpur.
"We found pieces of a woman's body in a bag. The woman seems to be in her early 20s and was killed two or three days back. The head was missing from the body," GRP sub inspector Girija Shankar Tiwari said.
Investigating officers are trying to find the number of women reported missing in these districts in the last week.
