Ugly fight between BJP, TMC MPs in Parliament; Mamata attacks Modi govt

New Delhi, July 8: In an unexpected incident, an ugly scuffle ensued between the BJP and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs on Tuesday inside the Lok Sabha, that led to its adjournment at 4.30 pm.

According to reports, TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar alleged that a BJP MP was allegedly drunk and verbally abused her.

TMC Leader Saugata Roy also alleged that the drunk BJP MP misbehaved with the party's MPs and threatened them to strip them and beat them.

However, the BJP MP in question has denied the allegations levelled by the TMC MPs, that he used any filthy language in Parliament.

"Kakoli Ghosh is lying. She called PM Narendra Modi a thief. I have done nothing wrong", BJP MP said.

While talking to mediapersons, TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh said, "We are not safe even in Parliament. BJP MPs came to hit us. Some of them were drunk in Parliament."

"Two BJP MPs abused and threatened to attack us, I am sure they were drunk" , another TMC MP Shatabdi Roy said.

BJP MP Harish Dwivedi told a news channel, " TMC MPs first started abusing us. They were interrupting proceedings. We only tried to save our MP.

The alleged misbehavior by the BJP MP led to an ugly street fight inside and outside the Parliament's premises.

BJP leader Jagdambika Pal clarified saying, "This is drama. Rail Budget was being presented and TMC workers were raising slogans against PM."

Meanwhile, the Speaker has assured the angry TMC MPs that an inquiry will be ordered into the incident.

Mamata Banerjee lashes out at the BJP

Talking to reporters, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC chief attacked the PM Modi-led BJP government by saying, "A party can't destroy democratic institutions. It is unfortunate for MPs to use unparliamentary language inside Parliament. A government may come and one party goes, but the democracy will remain forever."
