Udhampur attack: More details emerge as NIA makes another arrest
New Delhi, Oct 14: Shabzar Ahmed Bhat alias Khursheed had played a key role in the Udhampur attack, NIA officials said. He was the owner of the truck which transported Mohammad Naved and Noman to the attack site at Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 2015.
The NIA which had announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for any information leading up to Shabzar finally managed to nab him in a late night operation. He was arrested from Kulgam in a joint operation with the local police. Ahmed Bhat is a resident of Nai Basti, Qaimooh in Kulgam.
The arrest of Bhat helps the NIA probe further into the case. It has been found that a large local network of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba had planned and plotted the Udhampur attack along with their handlers in Pakistan.
The prime accused and mastermind of the attack, Abu Qasim had hired several persons to carry out this attack. The NIA suspects that Ahmed Bhat was aware of the plot and had willing given his truck to ferry the terrorists to Udhampur where the attack was finally carried out.
The NIA is yet to nab three more operatives alleged to be involved in this attack. While the hunt for the mastermind, Abu Qasim is still on, the NIA has announced a reward for information relating to others- Fayaz Ahmed Itoo and Fayaz Ahmed Ashwar.
