Udhampur attack mastermind Abu Qasim killed in encounter
Srinagar, Oct 29: In a major breakthrough the mastermind of the Udhampur attack, Abu Qasim has been killed in an encounter.
Qasim who was on the wanted list of the National Investigating Agency (NIA) for the Udhampur strike on a BSF convoy was gunned down by security forces at Kulgam in South Kashmir.
The security forces who had specific intelligence on Qasim cornered him and after a fierce battle shot him dead.
This is a major breakthrough for security agencies as Qasim was heading the operations of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba (LeT) in Kashmir since the past five years.
He has been responsible for scores of recruitments and terror strikes.
His name cropped up during the investigations into the Udhampur terror attack. He was named by accused Mohammad Naved during interrogation.
Moreover, the NIA learnt that it was Qasim who masterminded the entire operation. He had coordinated with handlers in Pakistan before carrying out the Udhampur attack.
