2 NSCN-K militants arrested in Manipur

Imphal, June 13: Continuing the crackdown on militants from North East, the police have picked up two high profile cadres of the NSCN-K. The NSCN-K cadres were arrested from Manipur after intelligence reports led to their hideout.

The two militants arrested have been identified as Khumlo Abi Anal and Pannei Kakilong chairman and activist of the NSCN-K respectively. These persons are alleged to be involved in the attack on the Indian army soldiers at Manipur in which 18 lost their lives.

Both these persons are high ranking cadres of the NSCN-K. While Anal is a chairman of the outfit Kakilong is a commander. Both are alleged to have played a vital role in the Manipur ambush which took place in Chandel district last week.

The interrogation of the two persons is extremely crucial says officers in Manipur. A top official informed OneIndia that there was intelligence regarding the whereabouts of these men which led to the arrest.

Both are local contacts for the NSCN-K which operates out of Myanmar. These persons may have passed on vital information regarding the movement of the Indian soldiers which helped the NSCN-K launch the attack.

Another arrested

In another operation Mohammad Jahid Ali, a member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-MC) was arrested. This outfit operates largely out of Imphal and has been involved in several subversive activities in the region.

Jahid was picked up by the Imphal police in a joint operation with the 40 Assam rifles. It is alleged that Ali was involved in marshalling forces in a bid to stage a major attack. The police are questioning him now.
