Trouble for Dera chief, High Court orders CBI probe into alleged castration of followers
Chandigarh, Dec 23: In a major blow to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday ordered a CBI probe into the charges of forced castration of his followers.
The High Court has passed this order while hearing a petition filed by Hansraj Chauhan, a former Dera Sacha Sauda follower, says a Times of India report.
In his petition, Chauhan had alleged that he had been castrated along with 400 other followers inside the Sirsa-based dera. He claimed that the male followers are castrated inside dera on false hope that by doing so they would get chance to meet God.
In his petition, Chauhan also said that the castration is done by dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim through medical doctors employed in his hospital.
The report said that the High Court had earlier ordered to conduct medical examination of Chauhan from Government hospital. During which, it was found out that Chauhan has been castrated.
