Tragedy hits International Yoga Day; 2 school girls killed in Gujarat
Rajkot, June 21: Two young girls, who were on their way to school to participate in yoga session celebrating the International Yoga Day, were killed in a road accident on Sunday, June 21.
The two girls along with their other friends were waiting for a bus. They were hit by a pickup car. The two girls were spot dead. The accident took place in Jamvadi village near Gondal town in Rajkot district in Gujarat.
Friends of the deceased too were injured severely and have been admitted to hospital. Driver of the van too received injuries and has been admitted to the same hospital.
Speaking about the accident, one police official was quoted as saying, "Since it was early morning, we suspect driver could have been drowsy and lost control of his vehicle, leading to the accident."
"The injured girls were rushed to a government hospital in Gondal. One girl was discharged from Gondal hospital after being given primary treatment. However, the two others have sustained serious injuries and have been referred to the Civil Hospital in Rajkot for further treatment," the official added.
