Chennai, Feb 12: For the second time in two days, AIADMK's interim general secretary Sasikala Natarajan met MLAs herded at a resort in the outskirts of Chennai.

Speaking to the media while leaving from Poes Garden, Sasikala Natarajan claimed that she was being targeted because she was a woman. "Jayalalithaa faced such difficulties for being a woman in politics and I stood by her throughout. It is not easy for women to survive in politics and many are trying to target me," she claimed.

The irony, however, was writ large with no women cadre being present in evident numbers as Sasikala played the victim card.

Journalist manhandled at resort

Chaos reigned supreme outside the resort where AIADMK MLAs have been herded as Sasikala supporters manhandled journalists stationed outside the resort. While on one hand Sasikala played the woman card, on the other, women journalists were being manhandled by Sasikala's supporters.

Journalists staged a protest outside the resort even as Sasikala held a meeting with her MLAs. Media persons along with villagers tried to block Sasikala's car as it approached the resort in protest. Heavy police deployment was seen outside the resort after the incident. Police deployment has been heightened at Raj Bhavan as well.

While speaking to the media earlier Sasikala claimed that a fake letter with the AIADMK letterhead claiming to be written by her was doing the rounds. "This fake letter claims that I have written to th governor threatening to commit suicide if I am not sworn in as the Chief Minister. This is fake and I condemn it," she said.
