Tiger mauls young student at Delhi zoo: Tragedy revisits the family

Tiger mauls boy, tragedy revisits family
New Delhi, Sept 27: Tragedy continues to haunt the family. Decades ago a woman lost her young child in an accident and now again she lost her young son as a tiger mauled 20-year-old Maqsood at Delhi zoo.

According to a media report, Maqsood was the second son that his mother lost to a tragedy. What compounded their misfortune is the fact that Maqsood's young wife is pregnant.

The Indian Express reported that Maqsood's brother had died at a young age when a car ran over him in Kolkata 15 years ago. Maqsood was only 5-year-old at the time of the tragedy.

Maqsood's mother Ishrat, who lost her two sons, has been depending on her third son Mahmood who works in Jaipur as a daily wage labourer.

The horrible incident at the Delhi zoo shocked everyone across the world. However, zoo officials confirmed that the white tiger, Vijay is not a man eater.

Officials further said that the White Tiger, who mauled Maqsood, showed no signs of restlessness or unusual behaviour after the incident.

In fact, Vijay, the Tiger was born and bred in captivity and knew no hunting techniques. He was born to Lakshman and Yamuna in 2007. R.A. Khan, curator, National Zoological Park, said,"He (Vijay) has been doing absolutely fine, but we will be keeping him under observation for the next four to five days. However, until now, he has not shown any unusual behaviour."
