Thane, April 9: In a shocking incident, Mumbai police led by ATC raided a cyber cafe in Thane as besides Internet access, it was offering "sex cublicles" to teenagers.
The cyber cafe was found to be illegal as it was running since last six-seven years, without a valid license.
According to a report published in Daily Mail, the cyber cafe in question is located near Smt Chandibai Himathmal Mansukhani College of Munbai University. It allegedly offers cosy cubicles to students who come in pair.
After acting on a tip-off, Police officials on Tuesday raided the cafe and were shocked to see around 15-20 couples in compromising positions in dingy 4X3 sq ft cabins.
All 24 accused including cyber cafe owner, manager and 11 couples were booked under section 294 (obscene act) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
ATC team inspector Sampat Nirmal was quoted saying as that "cyber cafe owner was running a sex racket as he had 20 cabins but only three computers."
Since the local police failed to take any action against the cyber cafe, despite several complaints, ATC team was finally sent to launch a raid.
"Bed for customers"
Sources said that there was a Mezannine floor inside the cyber cafe, where beds were kept for 'customers'.
Condoms and emergency contraceptive pills were also allegedly being sold there.
