Telangana MLA builds temple, statue for Sonia Gandhi
Hyderabad,Jan 8: Sonia Gandhi is the new Telangana Talli. A former Telangana minister and Congress MLA P Shankar Rao, has laid foundation for Sonia Gandhi's temple in his agriculture field in Mahaboobnagar district.

A bronze statue of the Congress president will be installed in the site, as a token of gratitude for 'making Telangana statehood a reality'.

Rao is planning to build the temple on ahis9-acre plot and name it 'Sonia Gandhi Shanti Vanam'. He wants to develop the entire plot, which is near the Bangalore-Hyderabad highway, into a tourist spot.

An award-winning sculptor Prof Prasad has been assigned the statue work and he has already prepared a clay model of the statue.

On Tuesday, Shankar rao with his family members visited Bommalpadu see the model of the statue and gave green signal. Presently, the statue works are going on at Sri Saibaba mega shilpashala at Bommaluru.

Reportedly, the statue will depict Sonia as Telangana Talli.

However, the BJP members are opposed to the idea of building temple for Sonia and have also warned Rao that they would pull down the structure if it is built. "Many youngsters laid down their lives due to the delay in Telangana announcement," they said.

Many Indian celebrities have had the fortune to have temples built in their name. FIlm personalities like MG Ramachandran, Amitabh Bachchan and Khushboo have temples dedicated for them.
